Dermatological Diagnoses on Darker Skin Tones: A Medical Elective

This article reflects upon a fourth-year medical elective experience in the Caribbean, focussing on the identification of dermatological conditions on darker skin tones, and the difficulties in recognising these conditions as a UK trained medical student. The article discusses the teaching biases towards white skin tones in UK medical training and highlights potential methods available for addressing this bias, in order to improve both teaching and learning.
